Hunstanton, or "Sunny Hunny" as it is sometimes known, is to be found on the Norfolk coast. Despite being on the east coast of the UK, it actually faces west due to the shape of the coastline, and so is one of the handful of places in East Anglia where you can see the sun setting over the sea. The area receives more than its fair share of sun due to being West facing making average temperatures slightly higher, hence the nickname "Sunny Hunny". Like many of the towns in this part of Norfolk, it's tourist heritage began with the Victorians, and it is a popular holiday destination to this day.
For most visitors to Hunstanton, the beach and seafront are the main points of interest. The area is well known for its chalky cliffs at Old Hunstanton and shallow beaches, making Hunstanton ideal for exploring rock pools that appear when the tide goes out. You can expect all the normal things that you might come to associate with a British seaside scene, such as donkey rides along the beach, stalls selling sticks of rock, a good fish and chip shop and water that never seems to be quite warm enough, but entices people in to swim anyway!
There are also other attractions, such as a swimming pool, leisure centre and a sealife and Seal sanctuary. If the weather turns a touch rainy, you can always visit the amusement arcades, where family favourites such as the penny pushers and two pence horse racing games still survive amongst the more modern fruit machines and video games. One of the arcades even has a mini indoor bowling alley.
If you are considering staying in Hunstanton, you will have your pick from a wide range of accommodation choices such as bed and breakfast establishments, hotels, caravan and chalet parks. These fill up during the summer months and the school holidays in particular when this pretty coastal town is at its busiest.
